Black History Month Celebration
The Village of Brown Deer, Wisconsin hosted its first official Black History Month celebration on February 28, 2024. The event honored Black leaders and their contributions to the community, featuring local musicians and singers, African drummers and dancers. Hosted by Spectrum One news anchor, and Brown Deer resident, Sachelle Reed. The program was supported by donations to the Brown Deer Community Foundation, and Perkins Boyz on the Grill and Tiffany's Dessert Bar provided dinner and desserts. The village plans to make the event annual and hold it in a larger facility to accommodate more attendees.
